Students Head to The Big Apple
– By Joan Williams, Class of 2002

The Finance Club and the Career Planning Center partnered to offer “A Week On Wall Street” to students interested in previewing and pursuing careers in investment banking.

The trip to New York, January 8-12, included meetings with alumni and recruiters from Banc of America Securities, BlackRock, Credit Suisse First Boston, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan Chase, Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, and Salomon Smith Barney. A reception was held at the Yale Club for Jones School alumni to provide advice to the 30-35 students on the trip.

John Miller, Associate Director, Career Planning

Additionally, the mostly first-year students received summer internship interviews through independent networking and through the MBA Consortium, a national recruiting event held the same week. Many of the students ended the week with promising prospects and even a few offers!

The Week on Wall Street will continue annually as a student-organized and self-financed activity. Special thanks to Joe Wood, 2001’s Finance Club New York Committee Chairperson, and to John Miller and Peter Veruki of the Career Planning Center for their attendance and support.
