Do the programs provide accommodations?
Programs do not include accommodation in the course fee. The Client Manager assigned to the course will contact you with logistical information and pre-reading prior to the course and can provide information on lodging and any Rice discounted rates.
The Client Manager will contact you between four and six weeks prior to the course with instructions on how to access the web portal. From there, you can download the pre-course readings, instructions for assessments, and other information.
Is federal financial aid available for executive education courses?
Although Rice University does participate in federal financial aid programs, executive education courses are not eligible.
How do I drive to campus and where do I park?
Here is a link to campus map with driving directions. You will park in the garage under McNair Hall and we will provide you with a parking voucher each day.
Do the programs provide health insurance?
Participants should have health insurance valid in the United States. Rice University is not responsible for any medical expenses incurred while you are attending a program.
What is the appropriate attire for class?
Business casual attire is recommended. The classroom temperature may fluctuate throughout the day, so you may want to bring a wrap or light jacket.
How long is a typical class day?
A typical day begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 4:30 p.m. There are short breaks throughout the day and a lunch break.
Are there group discounts?
Some of our programs offer a discount for groups of 3 who attend the same program. Please contact us with requests.
How do I prepare a case study?
A case is a description of an organization and usually features a challenge or decision. Case studies are based on real situations and companies and allow participants insight into organizational process and management. Participants will be asked to describe the organizational environment, the avenues of possible action, and to take a side on what they would recommend to the management team. Like real organizations, incomplete information allows for multiple solutions that will be debated in class.
Generally, it is recommended that participants read the case twice: once quickly to discover the general situation, and a second time to extract the qualitative and quantitative details. Don’t forget about the exhibits!
After reading the case, be prepared to answer a few questions:
You’ll be asked to support your recommendations from the facts in the case. As discussion continues in class, you may change your mind or refine your solution.
