Tyson Voelkel ‘11

Tyson is an active duty Major in the United States Army who has earned numerous military awards and decorations for service overseas in combat and at home in the United States. As an Airborne Ranger he earned two bronze stars as well as the prestigious General Douglas MacArthur Award for leadership.
Tyson holds an engineering degree from Texas A&M University, a masters degree in international relations and national security from the Bush School of Government and Public Service, and most recently an MBA from the Jones Graduate School of Business at Rice University.
Tyson and his wife recently founded a nonprofit focused on deaf blind children and those with CHARGE syndrome named after his daughter Lily Voelkel (www.lilyvoelkel.com). He also co-founded Operation Suits for Soldiers which is a nonprofit dedicated to assisting recently returned veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan find employment. http://operationsuitsforsoldiers.com
Tyson is married to his college sweetheart Christi with two daughters, Eliana 5 years old and Lily 2 1/2 years old. Tyson and Christi have been married for 14 years and moved 8 times within the continental United States and overseas.
