Ken, who holds a J.D. (1981) from
the University of Houston, is president and CEO of Community Health Choice,
Inc. (CHC), a Houston-based managed care organization committed to improving
access to care and health outcomes for low-income families. Prior to joining
CHC in April 2008, he served in leadership positions with Compass Consulting
and Benefits, Humana, Aetna and Prudential Healthcare. Ken says his education
at Rice in the social sciences, from medical anthropology to health care
economics to accounting and management, have all contributed to his passion for
health care policy and his role in working to reduce the number of uninsured in
the Houston area. In his spare time, Ken chairs the Greater Houston
Partnership’s Healthcare Emerging Issues Committee, co-chairs the Houston
Galveston Area Counsel’s Task Force on Regionalization of Safety Net
Healthcare, and serves on the board of directors on a local charity clinic.
Ken’s wife, Tracy (Dittert) Janda ’79, is also a Rice social sciences graduate.
She majored in legal studies and political science and is currently corporate
community relations manager at CenterPoint Energy, Inc. Their daughter Allie
’09 is an economics graduate and is employed at Ernst & Young LLP. The
Jandas also have a son, Gregory.
