W. Gerard Sanders

Gerry is a Professor of Strategic Management at the Jones Graduate School of Management at Rice University. He joined the Jones School in 2008. Previously, he was on the faculty of the Marriott School of Management at Brigham Young University, where he also served as the Chair of the Department of Organizational Leadership and Strategy. He earned a PhD in strategic management from the University of Texas at Austin in 1996. He currently serves as an Associate Editor of the Academy of Management Journal.

Prior to returning to academia, Gerry’s professional career was in institutional real estate investment. His favorite hobbies include traveling, watching soccer, competing (slowly) in endurance events such as marathons and triathlons, and enjoying a pint of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream.
